Nash to step down as Booktopia CEO, WA Premier’s Book Awards shortlist, Otmar wins 2022 Janet Mackenzie Medal x

Booktopia has announced co-founder Tony Nash will step down as CEO, but continue working within the company in a new position focused exclusively on growth, as company earnings fell 65%. Meanwhile, Express Media has appointed Zowie Douglas-Kinghorn as the new editor of Voiceworks literary journal.

In awards news, the shortlists for the 2021 Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards have been announced, and Geelong-based writer, editor, researcher and trainer Renée Otmar has won the 2022 Janet Mackenzie Medal for services to editing.

The Pulitzer Prize winners have been announced in the US, and in the UK, bookshop chain Foyles recorded an operating loss after sales fell dramatically, while Lea Ypi has won the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize.
